On Pday we hiked up above the city. We are up above the plaza de armas. We really haven't seen many ruins yet because we haven't got our carnet yet. There is a paper we can get because we live here and we can get into everything free. So we are waiting. Maybe a couple more weeks.

One of my favorite people in Peru. Denes is the son of Rosa that cleans the building. He always has a high five for me when we leave(the candy I have for him every day could have something to do with it.). We are in the hospital because his Dad is there because he got his appendix out, then he got an infection. The hospital was enough to scare the heck out of me.

Baptism Day in Inti Raymi
Zone Inti Raymi had a special fast last month to find more investigators. They planned a special baptism day for January 28. these are the baptisms on that day. They had one other later that night and two more that were too far away to come on the 28.
We are so impressed with the Elders and Sisters here. They are working so hard. We are in the Picchu district and we have such a good time in the district meetings and in our english lessons. We had them over for a pancake supper and for a pizza district meeting. (on P day of course.) The District Leader (Elder Vargas) sets his timer on his watch so they don't stay too long.

So today we went with Hermano Elias Perales to his farm. When he told us he had a farm I wasn't expecting this. His farm goes from where we are clear back up on the hills behind the house. It is beautiful there.
He actually has a barn and the cows stay in there all the time except when the helpers take them out to graze. They milk part out out for cheese then the calves get the rest. He offered me some warm milk but i wasn't too sure of that so I turned it down.
They make the cheese then sell it. I was a little glad he didn't offer us any cheese. I don't think I am ready for that. We did have lunch cooked on a fire and it was OK. Everything was hot so all the bugs should be dead. We will know better tonight.
Here is what real ranchers raise here. No they don't sell them for pets. Its what's for supper!

Inca stones
The top picture are stones that were gathered up from destroyed buildings. Some walls were incorporated right into the churches. This is the cathedral Santo Domingo. Check out the fit on the stones in the Inca walls. No steel tools.
Plaza de las Armas
Many Inca temples were here but the Spanish tore them down and built their churches in their place. on the hill behind the is the great fortress Sacsaywaman. We went to the fortress but didn't go in because when we get our Peruvian ID it will be about half the price. We've seen it from a distance and it is incredible.
This is the most famous plaza in Cusco. This is where all the tourists come.
