Alicia

This is our little friend Alicia Gutierrez Bustamonte. She lives in Marcavalle. She is in our ward and when we heard about her we went over to see her. She can't get out to church because she had an operation and now has a bag. She lost her leg when a train ran over her when she was twelve. She has a remarkable spirit and wants to do everything by herself. We go by every month and take her a message and just visit. We love her very much. She is so concerned that sister Johnson isn't learning Spanish fast enough so she always wants to help. We also have another sister in the ward that can't get out of bed named Junita. We visit her all the time and we helped her get her parents names into the temple to do their work done. She has been so worried about them and now is so relaxed about it. We have about a dozen people around Cusco that we try to visit every month. Most can't get out and love so much to have us come to their home and leave a message. One little sister just lost her mom who was a member but had never gone to the temple. We are going to help her get her moms name ready for the temple. Her mom was ninety five. All are converts and so miss having the missionaries in their home. I don't think it matters much to the young families but the older folks who were converted so long ago and the missionaries have moved on and never pass by, want a visit so much. They want to tell us how they were converted and who converted them. They want to tell us about their families and about their lives. I love to see the looks on their face when they open the door and see two gringo missionaries standing there. I leave feeling so blessed to have been there.
Another noteworthy item. I went to Choquehuanca last week and Told the people that if they would get their recommends back the branch would start prospering again. I signed five recommends that day and have two more that will be ready in three weeks. We need a new branch president there because the President Gutierrez has almost quit functioning. His first councilor is a very good man but works in Puno Monday through Saturday. He told me last Sunday He was going to take a leap of faith and quit his job in Puno and try to find work in Choquehuanca. It would be such a blessing there.
We are still looking for our investigator family. Rosanna from the garage in our old apt is attending with her boys sometimes. She is a wonderful mother and wants the best for her boys. Sister Johnson is going over Monday to cook with Rosa the member that lives in our old building and they have Invited Rosanna to cook with them. Two Hermanas are coming to learn some dishes and then the whole district is coming over to eat it. By the way Rosa is not a member but goes every week. Not married. We met a nice family on the street and have been by and kind of had a lesson with them. We took cookies of course and the invited us to come back.
